NWSMU launched an educational museum project for foreign students titled “Russian medicine in the history of the country”.

On 12 April, University entrance preparation course attendees visited the Museum of History of North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov. Future students had an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history of national medicine and the University in particular. An Arabic translation was also provided, thanks to the University's partner, Sheaito Mussallam, Chairman of the Board of the Russian-Arab Cultural Center in St. Petersburg.

This museum tour for attendees from Greece, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon was held as part of the educational museum project "Russian medicine in the history of the country" organized by the University International Office and Museum complex staff. The project allows future students from different countries to know more about Russian medicine allowing them to better integrate into the professional and cultural environment. The project also includes exhibition visits, cultural events and educational master classes in Russian.

At the end of the museum tour, attendees shared their impressions in the Museum’s guestbook. They noted that the museum tour is a great opportunity to practice Russian and to learn more about the University and Russian medicine.

Hussein Mahmoud Zein Al Dine, Preparatory course student (Lebanon):

“I came to Russia in November and have been living in St. Petersburg for 6 months. I knew that North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov is a very good university, and my friends recommended it. I really like the city and the University itself. I was amazed by its beauty and the number of departments”

Sheaito Mussallam, Chairman of the Board of the Russian-Arab Cultural Center in St. Petersburg:

“We have been working with North-Western State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikov for a long time: cooperation between the University and the Russian-Arab Cultural Center began back in 2016. We help students solve academic, social and any other issues. Our graduates are in demand professionals, and they are successfully employed in many countries around the world. Of course, we introduce students to Russian culture, we invite them to various cultural events. This year, for example, we are going to invite our graduates to the Victory Day celebrations”
